Aether

Aether is a resource present in all of Aether Games' games, such as Gates of Ethernity and Aether: Trading Card Game. It is represented by Aether Crystals, displayed at the bottom right of the screen, and its supply automatically increases and refills each turn, although certain cards can also affect it. Aether is the only resource used in Aether TCG battles, and is the primary limiting factor on the play of cards. In addition, players can sacrifice any of their cards/creatures from hand to refill their Aether supply, up to three times per match. Once the cards have been sacrificed, they are placed in the graveyard. Note that Sacrifice does not give Aether, only refills it.

Aether Crystals are a type of permanent magical energy source that can be used to pay for various costs associated with magical abilities and effects. They can be filled with Aether and used to pay Aether costs, or remain empty and unable to be used until refilled. Temporary Aether Crystals can also be granted for a single turn, increasing available Aether for that turn, but not affecting maximum Aether. Visually, temporary Aether Crystals appear to the right of permanent Aether Crystals, or if there is not enough room, will refill existing empty Aether Crystals. Temporary Aether Crystals are always spent before permanent crystals, and when their Aether is spent, they disappear rather than becoming empty.
